5 Awesome Tips on How to Remove Gel Nail Polish

Gel nails are awesome, there really is no other words to describe gel nails, okay besides amazing, fabulous and well let’s be honest we would be here all day if I were telling you about why gel nails are better than any other nail polish out there. I will tell you one reason that gel nail polish is better than any other nail polish out there and is the very reason I am writing this now, gel polish is hard to remove, to describe them a bit better they are not that hard to remove, however, they do last about 2-3 weeks. For those of you who are looking to remove your gel polish here are 5 awesome ways to remove gel nail polish.

Aluminum Foil

You might be asking yourself “what in the world?” I assure you this way is easy, fast and cheap. Simply go to your pantry cupboard, closet or maybe you keep it in a drawer, grab your aluminum foil. Yes Reynolds wrap that you would use on leftovers will do. Take a cotton ball, soak it in 100% acetone (can be purchased at your local drug store or any store for the most part) and place it on the nail, now take your foil and wrap it around the finger with the cotton ball sitting on your nail bed. You might look like Edward Scissorhands (you know, the movie with Johnny Depp) but rest assured that this process will only take 5 minutes. After your nails have soaked for 5 minutes simply remove the foil and grab the cotton ball and wipe your nail as you are removing it and voila.

Cuticle Pusher

Who says cuticle pushers are just to push your cuticles back? They serve multiple purposes, such as this one. You can take the end of your cuticle pusher to gently lift up the edge of the gel polish. This can be a bit time consuming, however, some people prefer this way versus the use of acetone on their nails. This way is a bit less abrasive so some do prefer it.

Nail Tray or Bowl

If you have a fancy little nail tray, awesome, if not a bowl will suffice. Simply fill up your nail tray or bowl with 100% acetone. It might be a good idea to either place an old towel or even some paper towels underneath the tray or bowl just in case a ittle acetone were to splash out when placing hands in or removing hands. Now just simply place your fingers in the tray or bowl for 5 minutes and the gel nail polish will come right off.

Gel Nail Removers

There are pre moistened gel nail pad removers that you can use at your convenience; it will be used the same way as all of the above techniques. With these pads you would simply hold the pre moistened with Acetone pad onto your nail for about 5 minutes and then wipe the gel polish right off. This is super easy and can literally be done anywhere, at the office, in the car while you’re stuck in traffic, or even while you’re in the waiting room at the doctor’s office.

Nail File

This technique is a bit more challenging and to be honest unless you have a lot of extra time on your hands this one is the last one I would recommend. If you are going to use this method it is easier to first trim your nails, and then simply take a nail file to your nails to remove the gel polish. This is not something you will want to rush through as you can very easily damage your actual nail if you don’t pay close enough attention to what you are doing and how you are doing it. If you are unsure of what you are doing, you may visit your local nail salon and they will be more than happy to assist you removing the gel nail polish.
