9 Natural Ways to Get Rid of Acne

Everyone at some point has had an encounter with acne. Caused by over active sebaceous glands they are most common among teens once they hit puberty. But, many adults still experience issues well into adulthood. Nobody is 100% sure what causes acne but many experts believe it has to do with hormones. Some people are more genetically susceptible to acne while some are blessed to rarely get a blemish.

If you suffer from too much acne or pimples here are some pretty effective ways to remove acne scars naturally. They are quite easy to do and can be done on a regular basis.

1. Honey


Honey is a natural antiseptic and is great at treating acne. Massage your acne scars with honey in order to get healthy looking skin. Mix it with lemon drops for an even better facial treatment. Lemon’s acidic nature will kill bacteria, while honey helps revitalize your skin.

2. Rose Water and Sandalwood

Rose water kills acne causing bacteria while nourishing the skin and sandalwood reduces skin inflammation. Make a paste by mixing rose water with sandalwood and apply it to your scars over night. Once you wake up you’ll notice the difference.

3. Tea Tree Oil

Tea tree oil is known for its anti bacterial properties. It also helps acne scars heal faster. Dip a cotton swab in tea tree oil and apply it to your acne for blemish free skin overnight.

4. Olive Oil


After washing your face take some olive oil and massage it into your face. Leave it on for two hours and then wash your face with a gentle cleanser. Olive oil contains properties that kill bacteria that cause pimples while providing deep nourishment for soft, supple skin.

5. Mint


Mint is great for removing acne scars over time. Just take a few mint leaves, crush them and strain the juice in a muslin cloth. Apply it to your scarred area and watch them gradually fade away.

6. Potatoes


Potatoes are great at clearing up marks left behind from pimples. Just rub a slice of raw potato on the scarred areas and you will have clear skin in no time. Potatoes have bleaching properties so over time the can lighten marks.

7. Turmeric and Mint

Widely known for its anti-bacterial properties turmeric can also brighten your skin complexion. Mix it with mint juice and apply it to your acne scars for 20 minutes. Wash it off with warm water. Mint’s healing properties combined with turmeric’s anti-bacterial properties and your pimple marks will be healed in no time.

8. Aloe Vera Juice


Aloe is a natural anti-bacterial agent that can reduce the size of pimples and prevent inflammation. It is fast acting and can be used for a number of skin issues along with treating pimples.

9. Orange Peel


Orange peels are rich in retinol which is an essential part of skin’s renewal process. Retinol encourages skin cell turnover and stimulates collagen production which, over time, will lead to less noticeable acne scars and healthier skin. You can mix dried orange peel powder in your shakes or add it to rosewater and apply it to your skin.
