Every since we can remember, we have been conditioned to the fact that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Eating breakfast not only gives us energy but it also stimulates our brains. It is also very vital when it comes to weight loss…but in the end who really has time for it? We all are trying to hit that snooze button (I used to be the “Queen” of snooze in love with the five more minutes syndrome) one more time dreading that first step out of bed. However we don’t realize that not only does snoozing makes us more drowsy, but causes us to miss out on something our bodies desperately needs…NOURISHMENT!! And that my dear starts with a healthy breakfast. Yes I know you’re busy and feel like you don’t have time, so in an effort to kill those excuses I have a few quick breakfast ideas to help get you started.
Cereals: anything that has bran, oats or fruit (remember the key here is eating healthy) with almond milk.
Granola and yogurt: take about 1/4 cup of granola and mix it inside of a cup of yogurt, either plain or with fruit.
Bagels: again any brand of bagel that is mostly made of some sort of bran or wheat and you can add a little cream cheese for extra flavor (my fave is cinnamon raisin bagel with a little butter on top).
Oatmeal/Grits/Cream of Wheat: all of these take about 5 minutes or less to cook on the stove and will fill your belly with warm goodness.
Smoothie: is your breakfast smorgasbord!! You can pack them with so many great things to satisfy all your hunger needs and nutrients your body craves. Fruits, veggies, protein powders, and more all mix together to provide a wonderful start to your day.
As of late I have become very fond of smoothies. I am one of those people who skip breakfast a lot because I normally don’t have time or don’t want to deal with the hassle of eggs, bacon, toast, etc…you know the kind of meal we think is the only kind of breakfast that will fill us up. But since I have noticed a decline in my energy I have decided to get back to making breakfast and smoothies have been a life saver and an intricate part of my daily routine.
So whatever you decide to choose, the most important thing is that you do in fact choose to start eating (or drinking) breakfast everyday in order to give yourself a jump start and set the tone for an amazing day! They say that the best way to start your day is with a positive thought and I say put that thought into action and eat some breakfast!! 🙂
PS: Here are two of my favorite smoothie recipes for you to try! Enjoy!
Tee’s Banana Royale
8 oz Almond milk
1 cup frozen peaches
1 whole ripe banana
1/3 cup plain yogurt
1/2 tsp dried Iaso Tea leaves
10 fresh spinach leaves
Tee’s Berry Delight
8 oz. Almond milk
2 oz prepared Iaso Tea
1/2 cup plain yogurt
1/2 cup frozen strawberries
7 fresh spinach leaves
1/2 tbs dried Iaso Tea leaves
Tip: Just throw all the ingredients in the blender until fully combined and pour in the cup of your choice. You can also substitute the spinach for kale. I chose the spinach because of the sweeter taste. And of course if you have all fresh fruits that would be even better. 🙂
