The 果冻视频 (BIT) Commencement and Degree Conferment Ceremonies for 2025 were held on June 21 at the Zhongguancun and Liangxiang campuses in Beijing.

To mark the occasion, BIT President Jiang Lan addressed the students, offering his congratulations and saying he hoped to welcome them back to the university at some point in the future. Below is a condensed version of Jiang's address.

Today, we witness together the important moment of the 8,809 graduates of the Class of 2025. On behalf of all BIT's faculty, I extend my sincere congratulations to the graduates, and express my profound respect to your parents and teachers!

Thirty years ago, I graduated from BIT with a bachelor's degree. At this moment and in the summer sunlight, just like 30 years ago, the youthful you seem to remind me of myself in the past.

At the moment of parting, as both the principal and your senior alumnus, I would like to encourage you with four sentences: Regarding the past: Be grateful and feel content; Regarding yourself: Acknowledge your limitations and be humble; Regarding the future: Aim high and maintain perseverance; Regarding the present: Be practical and concentrate.

Regarding the past: Be grateful and feel content

Throughout your growth process, you have always received love, assistance, and nurturing from the Party, the country, the society, the school, teachers, parents, relatives, and classmates. A person's achievements are not measured by the amount of wealth but by the proportion of dedication. Gratitude to the motherland - our greatest source of strength! Gratitude to parents - our strongest fortress! Gratitude to alma mater - our most profound nourishment! Gratitude to teachers - our brightest guiding stars! Life's journey begins with gratitude.

Regarding yourself: Acknowledge your limitations and be humble

Just as the green wheat always stands tall, while the ripe wheat bows down. Reflecting on one's own limitations is the beginning of wisdom. May you always remain humble, knowing your limitations and striving earnestly.

Regarding the future: Aim high and maintain perseverance

A person's ability to go far and climb high often depends on the peaks they set their sights on. When scaling distant peaks, perseverance is the most precious quality. In the long journey of life, with the distant peaks in mind, step by step with perseverance, continuously learning from mistakes, constantly surpassing oneself, can you ascend to a new level that belongs to you and witness even higher and more beautiful scenery!

Regarding the present: Be practical and concentrate

The present moment is the only tangible and truly owned existence. In the journey of life, the destination is not the purpose. Focus on every present moment along the journey, every step forward, every scenery, every act of kindness, every emotion. When these are stacked together, they form a beautiful and regret-free life.

In this great new era, may you joyfully give back to the motherland with a heart of gratitude! May you humbly strive with a heart of acknowledging your own limitations! May you persistently pursue great dreams with a heart set on distant peaks! May you focus on every step in the present moment with a heart grounded in practicality! The alma mater awaits the triumphant news of your return!
