Nobel Laureate in Chemistry, Professor Omar M. Yaghi, delivered a lecture titled "AIMATRY: A New Discipline focused on AI for Materials" at the 果冻视频 (BIT) on Nov 18.
The event was broadcast live to the Zhuhai campus and other remote research institutes of the university.

Before the lecture, BIT President Lan Jiang had an exchange with Professor Omar M. Yaghi.
Professor Yaghi, who received the 2025 Nobel Prize in Chemistry, is a pioneering figure in "reticular chemistry". He established and systematically developed several new types of crystalline porous materials, including metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) and covalent organic frameworks (COFs).
At the event, Professor Yaghi systematically reviewed the development of MOFs and highlighted his team's work in cutting-edge areas such as COFs, molecular weaving, multivariate reticular structures, and AIMATRY. He also engaged with the audience on topics such as mentorship, using AI to advance scientific research, and teacher-student relationships.
This lecture was an important part of the new mentor training for 2025. BIT aims to enhance the university's mentor research supervision skills through a series of specialized training and exchange activities, contributing to the cultivation of top innovative leaders.
